The Australian Government has today launched Australia’s first national campaign aimed at preventing child sexual abuse.

Sunday 22 October 2023 marked the fifth anniversary of the National Apology to Victims and Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse.

The Parliament has today passed two significant pieces of legislation to make Australia’s family law system simpler, safer and more accessible for separating families and their children.

The Albanese Government has committed to support Australian communities affected by the Hamas attacks on Israel and ongoing conflict, including $25 million to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Inc (ECAJ) and $25 million to Australian Palestinian, Muslim and other communities affected by the conflict.

The Australian Government is providing $50 million in 177 grants to keep Australians practising their religion safe across the country.

The Australian Government congratulates the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) for today marking 50 years of contributions to crime and justice policy and practice in Australia.

The Albanese Labor Government has today announced a $160 million package of reforms to restore integrity to Australia’s refugee protection system, providing a fair go to genuine asylum seekers and helping to break the business model of people who seek to exploit the system.

The Australian Government has appointed 54 additional members to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) through a transparent and merit-based selection process, conducted in accordance with the AAT appointment guidelines. These appointments follow the 39 appointments announced on 15 September 2023.

Today the Australian Government is commencing the search for Members of the new Administrative Review Tribunal – the body that will replace the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
