Recipients of the National Action Plan to Combat Modern Slavery 2020-25 Grants Program have today been notified, with $2.73 million provided over two years to thirteen organisations working to combat modern slavery in Australia.

The Honourable Justice Mordecai Bromberg has been appointed President of the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) for a five year term commencing on 10 July 2023.

The Albanese Government has delivered on our promise to the Australian people to strengthen protections for public sector whistleblowers with the passage of the Public Interest Disclosure Amendment (Review) Bill 2023 through Parliament. 

The Albanese Government today introduced a comprehensive package of reforms to protect the community from those who seek to spread hate and radicalise others to commit acts of terror.

Following the tragic events at Wieambilla in Queensland last December, National Cabinet tasked Police Ministers to provide options to implement a National Firearms Register.

The Albanese Government will introduce legislation next week to criminalise public displays of the Nazi Hakenkreuz and the Schutzstaffel, or SS, hate symbols and ban the trade in these items.

Today, the Albanese Government announces three new members of the Copyright Tribunal of Australia.

I am pleased to announce the appointments of Mr Kevin Smith as President and Ms Katie Stride as Native Title Registrar to the National Native Title Tribunal. Both appointments were made following a merit-based selection process.
