MORRISON'S RECORD – AUSTRALIA’S WORST EVER RANKING ON CORRUPTION

The Morrison Government’s rorting and failure to tackle corruption has dragged Australia down to its lowest level on record in Transparency International’s latest Corruption Perceptions Index.

The ninth year of Liberal rule has seen Australia suffer its largest ever annual fall, plummeting another four points to 18th place – the worst result Australia has ever received from Transparency International.

Over the past nine years, Australia’s score has dropped 12 points and our rank in the global index has fallen 11 places – the worst result of any OECD country.

Under Labor, Australia had a proud record of being one of the world’s most open, transparent and least corrupt nations. This status made Australia a very attractive place to do business, attracting vital foreign investment in an increasingly competitive global market.

But that record has been trashed by nine years of Liberal rorts, secrecy and corruption.

Under the Liberals all we’ve seen is scandal after scandal go unchecked, endless excuses and three years of failed promises from Mr Morrison to act on government corruption.

This is a government that lives in fear of accountability and what a powerful, independent, and transparent anti-corruption commission would reveal.

The only way to turn around this sorry record is to change the government.

Mr Morrison won’t act. Labor will.

An Albanese Labor Government will establish a powerful, transparent and independent National Anti-Corruption Commission.
