LABOR WILL DELIVER $15.96 MILLION OF EXTRA FUNDING FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN ISAACS

Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus announced today that local public schools will be $15.96 million better off under a federal Labor Government.

Parents and teachers will be able to find out how much extra funding their local public school will get under a Labor government, Mr Dreyfus said.

A new website www.fairgoforschools.com.auwill give each school an estimate of the extra funding it can expect in the first three years of Labors plan.

Labor will provide an extra $14 billion for public schools across the country to deliver the biggest school investment in Australian history.

Every public school in Isaacs will be better off under Labors plan, including:

  • Parkdale Secondary College, which will be $2.14 million better off over three years
  • Cheltenham Secondary College, which will be $1.18 million better off over three years
  • Chelsea Heights Primary School, which will be $480,000 better off over three years

This means more one on one attention for local students and will give schools the resources they need to provide tailored education to local students, Mr Dreyfus said.

Australian schools should be the best in the world, and every Australian child deserves the best start in life, yet over the last five years all the Liberals have done is attack public schools and slash their funding.

Labor has different priorities to the Liberals we will crackdown on multinational tax avoidance and close unfair tax loopholes, to prioritise school funding that invests in the future of our country and our community.

At the next election there will be aclear choice for voters Labors commitment to invest in public schools, or the Liberals cuts, Mr Dreyfus said.
