ISAACS RESIDENTS LOSE OUT IN HOCKEY BUDGET

Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has slammed the Abbott Governments 2015 Budget, labelling it short sighted and fundamentally unfair.

This Budget is the worst of both worlds. It features the same cuts the public rejected last time, including $80 billion cut from hospitals and schools, $100,000 university degrees and cuts to family payments, Mr Dreyfus said.

Families in Melbournes South-East have again been targeted with cuts to social services, paid parental leave and households budgets.

Local community organisations including the Springvale Benevolent Society, African Communities Foundation Australia and the Mentone Community Assistance and Information Bureau were among the many local social service providers that lost funding in this Budget, Mr Dreyfus said.

This decision will hurt many local residents who use the services of these great community organisations.

Just like in the 2014 Budget, this Budget targets the most vulnerable in our community while continuing lavish tax concessions for the wealthiest Australians, Mr Dreyfus said.

Labor has offered the Government more than $20 billion over ten years worth of fair and responsible savings by ensuring multinational companies pay their fair share of tax and reducing excessive tax concessions for high income earners.
