Abbott Government Keeps City Of Kingston In Dark On NBN - Mark Dreyfus QC MP

Before the election Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull promised that all Australians would get the NBN sooner by 2016.

Before the election Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull promised that all Australians would get the NBN sooner by 2016.

After the election they broke that promise and now they wont tell us when we will get the NBN or what sort of NBN the City of Kingston will get.

They are deliberately keeping the Kingston community in the dark on the NBN, Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus said.

NBN Co has only committed to releasing a 12 month rollout schedule sometime next year.

That means Australians could have to wait up to five years to find out when they will get Turnbulls second-rate NBN.

This isnt good enough.

Malcolm Turnbull needs to tell the Kingston community when they will get the NBN, and what type of NBN they will get.

Under Labor 93% of Australians would have got fibre-to-the-premise broadband.

Under the Coalition, 24% of Australians will get fibre-to-the-premises whilst 41% will be forced to make do with fibre to a node and then copper to their home or business. Another 28% will have access to the NBN through the HFC network.

Kingston residents want to know if they are going to get the real NBN or Malcolm Turnbulls second rate version.

They also want to know when the NBN is scheduled to be rolled out in their area. Instead Malcolm Turnbull is keeping them in the dark.
