CASH CONTRADICTS MORRISON – CONFIRMS ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION ANOTHER MORRISON LIE

The Attorney-General has confirmed once and for all Scott Morrison’s promise to establish a national anti-corruption commission was yet another election lie.

Just last week Mr Morrison denied the promised commission was dead, telling journalists there was still time to introduce and pass the bill.

Senator Cash has now called out the Prime Minister’s lie, today telling Senate Estimates “At this point in time, there is no support for our bill …. and therefore the government's not progressing with it.”

It's now more than three years since Mr Morrison and his former Attorney-General Christian Porter stood before the Australian people and promised ‘a robust, resourced, real system that will protect the integrity of Commonwealth and public administration’.

Today, Senator Cash has told Australians Mr Morrison’s promise was just another example of the Deputy Prime Minister’s observation that Mr Morrison "is a hypocrite and a liar” “who earnestly rearranges the truth to a lie."

To this day, Mr Morrison has still not even brought a bill before the Parliament.

Instead, all we’ve seen is scandal after scandal go unchecked, endless excuses and a weak, pathetic, desultory ‘exposure draft’ which was so bad, the Centre for Public Integrity denounced it is 'a sham designed to cover up corruption'.

This is a Government that lives in fear of accountability and what a powerful, independent, and transparent anti-corruption commission would reveal.

It’s now clear that to stop corruption you have to change the government.

Mr Morrison won’t act. Labor will.

In government Labor will establish a powerful, transparent and independent National Anti-Corruption Commission.
