Mark Dreyfus QC MP, Federal Member for Isaacs, on Friday visited Wallara Industries, in Keysborough, to see firsthand how the organisation has progressed since it relocated to Keysborough, from Noble Park approximately one year ago.
Wallara Industries is supported with more than $800,000 a year under the Australian Government's Disability Employment Assistance program, providing employment and work place training for people with an intellectual or developmental disability.
Wallara Industries was set-up more than fifty years ago and has grown to provide work for 20,000 people Australia-wide, including 93 people with disability in our local community.
Mr Dreyfus said it was important that people with intellectual or developmental disability, who wish to work, are given every opportunity to enter and contribute to the Australian workforce.
"People with disability should have the right to work and contribute to their community - just like any of us."
"This program is critical for our local community in allowing people with an intellectual or development disability to undertake productive and meaningful work."
Wallara delivers employment assistance for job seekers with disability, helping people with disability, injury or health condition get ready to look for a job, find a job and keep a job.
