LABOR TO DELIVER THE DANDENONG EMPLOYMENT HUB
A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will invest $1.5 million to establish the Dandenong Employment Hub to help workers in Greater Dandenong find secure and rewarding work.
This is all about backing local workers and businesses to build a stronger economy.
Greater Dandenong is one of Victoria’s economic powerhouses, with 1,400 manufacturing businesses in the region and more than 21,000 jobs. There is a strong demand for workers.
There are substantial local employment opportunities but the unemployment rate in Greater Dandenong is significantly higher than the statewide average.
This $1.5 million election commitment will establish the Dandenong Employment Hub, designed to bridge this employment gap by providing tailored employment services to connect jobseekers with employers.
The Dandenong Employment Hub will be accessible online and in person, helping to tackle the mismatch between job opportunities and workforce participation and enabling local residents to access employment opportunities. It will support people of all ages and backgrounds to find new jobs.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
