BUILDING A STRONGER ISAACS COMMUNITY
Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has recommended a total of $150,000 in grants for local community groups in the latest round of the Stronger Communities Program.
This small grants program enables local community groups to purchase equipment or build local infrastructure on a matched funding basis.
I was very pleased to recommend funding for these 20 local organisations. All of these projects will be of high value to our community.
There is great diversity in the Isaacs community and that has shone through here, with grants recommended for sporting clubs, community centres, mens sheds and pre-schools, to name just a few, Mr Dreyfus said.
I congratulate these groups and wish them the very best in their projects.
Mr Dreyfus recommended the following 20 grants for approval by the Department of Business:
- $18,000 for Mordialloc-Braeside Junior Football Club for the refurbishment of its canteen in Parkdale.
- $18,000 for Parkdale Cricket Club to buy tables, chairs, curtains and audio equipment for the new Gerry Green Reserve pavilion.
- $16,000 for Cheltenham Youth Club for a new IT system.
- $10,500 for Aspendale Scout Group for the installation of a disability accessible toilet and an upgrade to shower and bathroom facilities.
- $10,000 for Carrum Downs Football Club for a new scoreboard.
- $9,900 for Mordialloc Neighbourhood House to replace child safe fencing.
- $9,100 for Hawthorn Kingston Cricket Club to build a shed to house training facilities at Walter Galt Reserve in Parkdale.
- $8,600 for Dingley Mens Shed to install an evaporative cooler and upgrade its kitchen.
- $7,800 for Chelsea Little Athletics for a PA system and complimentary equipment for its long jump pit.
- $7,000 for Chelsea Heights Community Centre to buy new equipment for its childcare facility.
- $5,000 for Keysborough Bowls Club to install a new PA system.
- $5,000 for Aspendale Lifesaving Club to buy new nippers boards.
- $4,400 for Chelsea Heights Scout Group for new tents for camping.
- $4,000 for Parkmore Junior Football Club to buy iPads to improve coaching capacity.
- $3,250 for Edithvale Preschool to buy 20 solar panels.
- $2,895 for Chelsea Care Works to buy three split system air conditioners.
- $2,715 for U3A Kingston to buy new computers.
- $2,706 for Carrum Indigenous Nursery for a large water tank and watering system.
- $2,500 for Edithvale Bowls Club for new shading and a new scoreboard.
- $2,500 for Aspendale North Kinder for upgrades to its furnishings and educational toys.
