MORRISON NOT SERIOUS ABOUT INTEGRITY OR TACKLING CORRUPTION
The Morrison Government has today proven it is not serious about integrity or tackling corruption by voting down Labor's motion demanding it keep its promise to establish a Commonwealth Integrity Commission.
It has now been more than seven months since the Prime Minister and Attorney-General announced on 13 December 2018 they would establish a Commonwealth Integrity Commission.
That same day the Prime Minister told 2GB it "was something I had to resolve by the end of the year".
But the Governments legislative agenda makes no mention of an integrity commission, making clear it has no intention of bringing legislation before the Parliament this year, if ever.
Given the scandals which continue to rock this tired third-term Government, its clear why the Prime Minister and Attorney-General are not in the least bit interested in integrity.
They prove it on a daily basis in the way in which they ignore and cover up the scandalous conduct of their own ministers.
Labor went to the last election with a commitment for a National Integrity Commission with all the powers of a standing royal commission.
A government serious about tackling corruption would be picking up Labor's plan and bringing legislation before the Parliament.
But this third term, tired Government has done nothing, showing they have no commitment to integrity, particularly when it comes to investigating corruption within their own ranks.
