LABOR WELCOMES APPOINTMENT OF NEW NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA DIRECTOR
Labor welcomes the appointment of Professor Gerard Vaughan AM as the new Director of the National Gallery of Australia.
Professor Vaughan will bring leadership and a depth of scholarship to the Gallery.
His experience as Director of the National Gallery of Victoria, particularly in collection building and mounting of exhibitions, will be of great value to our National Gallery.
Professor Vaughan also brings skills in fund raising and community engagement at a national level.
Labor also recognises the work of outgoing Director Dr Ron Radford AM over the past ten years.
Dr Radford has led the Gallery through a period of great change, has successfully redeveloped and re-oriented the Gallery's physical spaces, and has significantly grown its collections of Australian and international art.
He leaves the Gallery in good shape for the next phase of its service to the nation under a new Director.
