GOT YOUR SURVEY?
Labor is urging Australians to make sure they have received their marriage equality survey form in the post, and to contact authorities to address any irregularities.
All Australians should have received their survey forms in the post by Monday this week. If you have not yet received your survey now is the time to call and request a new ballot.
Labor is concerned about a number of issues with the survey which are now being brought to light.
Today we heard reports of an 18-year-old being refused a ballot, despite being on the electoral roll.
There have also been news of ballots being stolen or not arriving at the correct address.
We are disappointed, but not surprised that these irregularities have been found to exist. But this survey is too important to not get it right, and we call on every Australian to make sure they have received their ballot and to take action if they have not.
If you have received your ballot, don't delay in putting it back in the post.
These issues are just some of the reasons why Labor warned Mr Turnbull and the Liberal Government against pursuing this $122 million non-binding postal survey. But now that it is going ahead, it is vital that all Australians who want to have their say are able to do so.
If you have yet to receive your ballot please contact the ABS on 1800 572 113.
