The Gosnells Community Legal Centre in Western Australia will receive a $190,000 one-off funding injection to help maintain family law, child support, domestic violence and other important services for the local area.
Community legal centres play an integral and complementary role in the delivery of legal services to disadvantaged people in the community, said Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus QC, visiting the legal centre today.
This funding recognises the real and important difference Gosnells Community Legal Centre makes to the lives of individuals in the south east metro area of Perth.
Fair access to justice is a priority of the Government and our total nation-wide contribution to legal assistance services over the next four years will be $1.35 billion.
Gosnells Community Legal Centre promotes social justice and equity through its support of low income earners in resolving their legal, social and economic issues.
Its services include:
- Child Support & Family Law Legal Service
- Financial Counselling Service
- Domestic Violence Legal Service
- Tenancy Service
- Welfare Rights & Community Advocates Service
The Australian Government has provided more than $1.4 million since July 2007 to support the operation of the centre.
