Appointments to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1)

I am pleased to announce the appointment of three new Judges to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1).

These appointments have been made following an open call for expressions of interest across Australia. All applications were considered by an advisory panel comprised of eminent individuals.

Mr Mark Anderson has been appointed to the Parramatta Registry and Dr Juliet Behrens and Judge Elizabeth Boyle have been appointed to the Sydney Registry of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1). They will commence on 5 August 2024.

On behalf of the Australian Government, I congratulate Mr Anderson, Dr Behrens, and Judge Boyle on their appointments and thank them for their willingness to serve the people of Australia as Judges of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Mark Anderson
Mr Anderson graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University in 2002. Mr Anderson was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2003 and was called to the South Australian Bar in 2009.

Juliet Behrens
Dr Behrens graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Tasmania in 1988. Dr Behrens was admitted as a Barrister in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1992 and was called to the Australian Capital Territory Bar in 2017.

Judge Elizabeth Boyle
Judge Boyle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney in 1988. Judge Boyle was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1989. Judge Boyle was appointed as a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) in 2016.
