Additional disaster assistance for Rockhampton farmers
Extra assistance is now available for primary producers who were affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald in Central and Southern Queensland in January 2013, under the jointly funded Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
The Australian and Queensland Governments today announced that clean-up and recovery grants of up to $25,000 will be made available for eligible primary producers in the entire Rockhampton Local Government Area.
"Recent flooding has severely affected Queensland and this additional assistance will help communities to rebuild," Mr Clare said.
"This funding is important and will help many people who are still recovering from the devastating impact of the wild weather that hit Queensland," Mr Newman said.
"Primary producers and small businesses will also require ongoing and additional support and we will continue to work with the Federal Government to give those people every possible assistance."
"It is clear that primary producers in disaster affected communities in Queensland are doing it extremely tough as a result of the recent severe weather. This assistance will help get them back on their feet," Mr Neumann said.
The Australian and Queensland Governments will continue to work together to ensure that disaster affected communities can quickly recover.
