WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH $20,000? IDEAS WELCOMED FOR ROUND TWO OF GOVERNMENT GRANT PROGRAMME
Federal Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus is encouraging local community groups in the Isaacs electorate to pitch their ideas for grants under the second round of the Governments Stronger Communities Grants Programme.
Mark Dreyfus said grants of up to $20,000 are now open to local not-for-profit community groups and local governments under the new round.
Up to $150,000 of funding will again be available in the electorate of Isaacs for small capital projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 are available for capital projects, but to be eligible, the projects require matched contributions, in cash or in kind on at least a dollar for dollar basis.
A Community Advisory Committee will be tasked with identifying which ideas represent the best investment for our community.
Im interested in the best ideas in our community for how this funding is spent so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this funding, Mr Dreyfus said.
This funding should be spent on the brightest ideas that represent the best value for money.
I would encourage locals and community groups who have identified projects which might qualify to submit their ideas to the Community Advisory Community.
Community groups are invited to submit an expression of interest for funding which will be assessed by the Advisory Committee.

Local community groups have until 1 April to send in a proposal after which successful proposals identified by the Community Advisory Committee will be invited to submit a full application to the Department responsible for the Programme for final approval.
