TURNBULLS NBN BAD FOR ISAACS

The release of the NBN Corporate Plan last week shows that Communications Minister Mitch Fifield has no interest in fixing Malcolm Turnbulls second-rate, copper NBN.

The Corporate Plan confirms the worst for local internet users:

  • That the cost of Mr Turnbulls second-rate NBN has nearly doubled.

  • That the time it will take to build has more than doubled.

  • That the obsolete copper network that Turnbull is locking local residents into will not provide Australians with world-class broadband.

In 2013 Mr Turnbull said that every Australian household would have fast, affordable broadband by 2016. In this time Australias internet speeds dropped from 30th in the world to 60th and still the majority of Melbournes South-East is without access to the NBN.

Mr Turnbull promised he would build his second-rate copper NBN for $29.5 billion but it is now costing up to $54 billion. This means Mr Turnbulls NBN has blown out by $24.5 billion.

All Mr Turnbull is offering Australians is a slower, second-rate copper NBN, that wont allow many local businesses to compete in the global marketplace, and wont provide the internet speeds required for the modern day. With Mr Turnbulls delays and downgrades hurting our local community, residents of Melbournes South-East are among the biggest losers from Mr Turnbulls broken promises.

Malcolm Turnbull talks big about an innovation boom, but hes leaving Australia buffering.
