TURNBULLS BUDGET FAILS ISAACS YET AGAIN
Last night Malcolm Turnbull had one last chance to fix five years of unfairness and he failed.
Instead Mr Turnbull gave an $80 billion handout to big business through a corporate tax cut, while lockingin cuts to schools, universities and Medicare.
Budgets are about priorities and this is a government that has prioritised tax cuts forbig multinationals over better schools and hospitals. It's as simple as that.
Mr Turnbull's $80 billion big business tax cut would deliver $17 billion to the banks alone - the same amount the Liberals cut from schools when they broke their promise to match Labor 'dollar for dollar' on schools funding recommended in the Gonski report.
The governments insistence on keeping theMedicare rebate freeze in place for years to come will force up out-of-pocket costs to see specialists and hurt residents of Isaacs.
The choice at the next election couldnt be clearer: Labor will invest in schools and universities, end the Medicare rebate freeze and cap increases in health insurance premiums. TheLiberals will rip away funding from hospitals, schools and the ABC to further boost the balance sheet ofbig business and the banks.
