A Liberal Party flyer invites locals to pay $45 a head, simply to talk to Federal Member for Flinders and Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage, Greg Hunt, and Victorian Senator Mitch Fifield.
"$45 is a high price to pay for Coalition misinformation about the carbon price," Mr Dreyfus said.
On August 3 this year, Mr Dreyfus met with the South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance (SEMMA), an independent association representing the interests of manufacturers in the South East of Melbourne, to discuss and answer questions about the affects of the high Australian dollar, record terms of trade, continued strong jobs growth in the economy and the Government's Clean Energy Future Plan.
"The Clean Energy Future Plan is the most efficient way to reduce carbon emissions. It delivers a record $13.2 billion investment in renewable energy that will create opportunities in the Australian economy, while providing assistance to households and small business," Mr Dreyfus said.
"What is clear to me is that businesses don't need Liberal Party MPs continually talking down the resilience of manufacturing in Greater Dandenong and the opportunities that are created by moving to a clean energy future."
Treasury modelling shows Australia's manufacturing sector will grow by 69 per cent to 2050 under the Federal Government's carbon price. In Victoria the economy will grow by 30 per cent to 2020, and by 162 per cent by 2050, with a carbon price in place.
"What business representatives won't hear is the fact that the Liberal Party's climate change policy will leave families $1,300 worse off every year and will struggle to achieve the 5% reduction in emissions the Coalition has committed to reaching."
