TIGERS KNOW THE SCORE
Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that the St Bedes/Mentone Tigers Football Club will receive $20,000 to install an electronic scoreboard at its Mentone Reserve home ground.
Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the second round of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.
The St Bedes/Mentone Tigers are one of the great clubs in our community. This grant will allow them to install an electronic scoreboard, with a visual display LED panel to show a live feed of the game, Mr Dreyfus said.
This LED panel will also be used by the Mentone Cricket Club and will open up the Mentone Reserve for greater community use as a community screen to watch movies and football games, or for community events such as carols or club presentations.
I am very pleased to have been able to assist the Tigers to obtain this grant, Mr Dreyfus said.
This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.
More information on the funding programme, including guidelines, is available at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/.
