Supporting migrant and refugee women and children in south-east Melbourne

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $407,000 for Wellsprings for Women to deliver new infrastructure to support migrant women and children in Melbourne’s south-east.

The Multicultural Community Engagement and Activities Hub (MCEAH) was launched by Wellsprings for Women in partnership with Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) Australia Noble Park in October 2024. The hub is designed as a place for multicultural communities, in particular migrant women and children, to gather and learn, with an outdoor community garden as its primary feature.

This $407,000 election commitment will bring the vision to reality, expanding the MCEAH by delivering an outdoor learning, meeting and meal space, a large kitchen, outdoor oven, garden pergola and information rotunda for the hub, weather-proofing the hub and creating more opportunities for the facility to be utilised year-round.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
