SOUTH EAST COMMUNITY LINKS GET WITH THE TIMES
Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that South East Community Links will receive $15,261 to upgrade its telephone system and replace ten outdated computers that are used by clients of the organisation.
Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the second round of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.
South East Community Links is one of the great organisations of our community. This grant will provide significant assistance to disadvantaged residents of the City of Greater Dandenong, Mr Dreyfus said.
South East Community Links has been using computers that are ten years old and not up to scratch for community use. This grant will replace these computers with new ones and also upgrade the organisations outdated phone system, which has faced ongoing maintenance issues over the past few years.
I am very pleased to have been able to assist South East Community Links to obtain this grant, Mr Dreyfus said.
This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.
More information on the funding programme, including guidelines, is available at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/.
