SCOMO, FIX OUR SLOMO BROADBAND
If theres anything as dysfunctional as the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison government, it would have to be its National Broadband Network.
In 2013 Malcolm Turnbull promised that the National Broadband Network (NBN) would be rolled out to every household in Australia by the end of 2016.
It is now September 2018 and many parts of the Isaacs electorate are still without the NBN, while many of theareas that have been connected suffer from inadequate speeds and other problems.
Clearly the Liberals have dropped the ball on the NBN, with delays, cost blowouts and an overreliance on hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) connections marring the roll-out, Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus said.
With the Liberal Party having spent most of this year divided and fighting amongst itself, it may be that they simply havent had the time to fix their NBN policy. I hope now as the latest Prime Minister, that Mr Morrison will re-assess the NBN roll-out with a view to installing more fibre to the curb technology where the beleaguered HFC connections are being rolled out.
The Isaacs community has been badly let down by the Liberals NBN roll-out. There are houses from Patterson Lakes to Moorabbin that wont be connected until the second half of 2019, while most of Cheltenham, Dingley Village, Highett and Moorabbin are set to get the second-rate HFC connection.
What Mr Morrison needs to understand is that the NBN isnt just about streaming Netflix, it has the capacity to make our lives change for the better. I call on Mr Morrison to review the NBN roll-out in the Isaacs electorate, with an aim to roll out fibre to the curb technology to more premises and sooner, Mr Dreyfus said.
