MENTONE HOCKEY CLUB SCORES WITH GRANT

Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that the Mentone Hockey Club will receive $10,000 for the installation of players shelters at the Mentone Hockey Club Playing Fields.

Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the new Stronger Communities Grants Programme.

Im very excited to announce that the Mentone Hockey Club will receive this funding, Mr Dreyfus said.

The Mentone Hockey Club is one of the great clubs in our community and this installation of playing shelters will be of enormous benefit to the hockey playing community in Melbournes South-East.

I look forward to joining the Mentone Hockey Club for a hit when they open this excellent new facility, Mr Dreyfus said.

The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.

Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.

Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme will open on 15 February, Mr Dreyfus said.

Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.

I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.

More information on the funding programme, including guidelines, is available at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/.
