MARK DREYFUS CONGRATULATES XINJIANG CHINESE ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA ON GRANT
Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has congratulated the Xinjiang Chinese Association of Australia on receiving a grant for $9,986 to purchase iPads and cooking utensils for the use of their members in Keysborough.
Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.
I congratulate the Xinjiang Chinese Association of Australia on receiving this grant. I am sure that these iPads and cooking utensils will be of great benefit to members of the association, Mr Dreyfus said.
Computer literacy is essential in this day and age and I commend the Xinjiang Chinese Association of Australia on taking this step to help their members to access computers and the internet.
I am sure that this project will be a great success for the Xinjiang Chinese Association of Australia and I wish the association the very best for its programs, Mr Dreyfus said.
This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.
Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme is open now and closes on 1 April, Mr Dreyfus said.
Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.
I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.
