Making Melbourne's new Ramadan Night market permanent

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will make Melbourne’s highly successful Ramadan Night Market permanent, investing $225,000 across three years to ensure an expanded night market can continue annually.

The Ramadan Night Market was held for the first time in Dandenong’s Thomas St in 2025, attracting up to 50,000 visitors each night from across Melbourne for a festival of food trucks, activities and cultural entertainment.

With visitors ranging across all ages and cultural backgrounds, the Ramadan Night Market has been highly successful in bringing all members of the community together, creating cross-cultural dialogue and promoting understanding.

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will commit $75,000 each year across three years to assist with the costs of the market’s operation and security, ensuring the event can continue annually.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
