Attorney-General and Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus QC MP will speak tomorrow at the Edithvale/Chelsea RSL Dawn Service where he will commemorate the sacrifices of the men and women who have served Australia in the armed forces.

Mr Dreyfus will announce that the Australian Government will provide $100,000 in funding grants for local projects in the electorate of Isaacs to commemorate the Anzac Centenary.
Mr Dreyfus will also announce the establishment of a local committee to report on grant proposals and community projects. The members of the committee are:

Principal of Parkdale Secondary College Greg McMahon
Former MLA for Mordialloc Janice Munt
Chairman of the Australian National Aviation Museum Graham Malcolm
Community representative and local resident Maria Wilton
Mr Dreyfus said between 2014 and 2018 Australia would commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the First World War.
"The First World War and the original ANZACs left an indelible mark on our nation and helped shape our identity, earning the respect of friend and foe. These grants will help ensure the Anzac legacy continues to be handed down to younger generations.
"The Federal Labor Government has allocated $100,000 to the electorate of Isaacs to help enable community groups to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian servicemen and women in the First World War. I encourage community and ex-service organisations to apply."
Examples of eligible activities under the Program include:
o public commemorative events;
o new First World War memorials or honour boards;
o the restoration of existing First World War memorials or honour boards;
o the preservation, interpretation and display of First World War wartime and military memorabilia and artefacts; and
o relevant school projects.
In his speech tomorrow morning, Mark Dreyfus will focus on the contributions of women during past wars.
"While women did not serve on the frontline, their contribution to our nation was substantial. Thousands of women served as nurses in both world wars in many locations across the world.
"Images of women during war generally depict a mother or wife waiting anxiously for news of a son or husband on the frontline. But there were also many women serving in the battle zone and at the forefront of the conflict," he said.
