LIBERALS FAIL AGAIN ON NBN

Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus today slammed the Liberals for their hypocrisy and failure in delivering the National Broadband Network to Isaacs.

My Liberal opponent today claimed that Under Labors NBN youll wait longer and pay more for the NBN. He must be kidding, confused or have the shortest memory in Isaacs, Mr Dreyfus said.

In 2013 Mr Turnbull said that every household in Australia would have access to a faster, cheaper National Broadband Network by 2016. It is now 2016 and the Liberals have failed on every single level.

The Liberals second- rate network has blown out in price and been delayed again and again, and in the small pockets of the country where an NBN has been built, has used old copper technology, Mr Dreyfus said.

Internet speeds in Australia have fallen from 30th in the world in 2013 to 60th in 2016 because of the Liberals mismanagement of the NBN.

Here in Isaacs we have businesses in Carrum Downs and Braeside that are struggling to compete on the world stage because of Mr Turnbulls broken promise on the NBN. We have students in Aspendale that are unable to get a decent enough internet connection to study from home.

All across the country the Liberals have been hiding their failure and broken promises on the NBN, and its not hard to see why. The Liberals NBN policy is broken. It will do nothing to deliver world-class internet to local residents, who have been failed by the Liberals inaction on the NBN.

Given the Liberals utter failure on the NBN in Isaacs, it is laughable that the Liberal candidate for Isaacs would even raise the issue.

Local residents know that the Liberals broke their promise on the NBN, just as they broke their promises on schools funding, Medicare funding and on pensions.

What we have now is a desperate Liberal candidate picking figures out of the air to excuse his partys 20th Century internet solution. Labor will deliver a world-class network with more fibre, the Liberals will deliver an obsolete copper network. Its as simple as that, Mr Dreyfus said.
