More than 500 jobs and apprenticeships will be up for grabs today at the Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expo in Dandenong.

More than 500 jobs and apprenticeships will be up for grabs today at the Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expo in Dandenong.

The Expo will be held at the Dandenong Markets, Cnr Cleeland and Clow Sts, from10 am to 3 pm.

Minister for Human Services Senator Kim Carr said the Expo provides opportunities for both job seekers and local employers.

"With more than 100 exhibitors at the Dandenong Expo, I encourage all job seekers to come armed with their resume and take advantage of the unique opportunity to meet a number of employers in one location."

"The Expo will have a jobs board showing what positions are available and a skills board where local training organisations will promote training opportunities in the region."

Parliamentary Secretary for Industry and Innovation, and Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus said having a Jobs and Skills Expo hosted in Dandenong was an important part of the Government's efforts to keep local residents in work.

"Last time one of these Expos was held in Dandenong, back in 2010, more than 10,000 local job seekers were connected with hundreds of jobs and skills training opportunities. I want to build on that success with this Expo," Mr Dreyfus said.

"My message to local residents is to take advantage of this great opportunity because it is never too late to up-skill, re-skill or re-engage in the paid workforce."
