HERE COMES THE SUNSHADE
Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that the Carrum Bowling Club will receive $5,470 to install two six by three metre marquee pop-up shades to provide members with better sun protection.
Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the new Stronger Communities Grants Programme.
Im pleased to have been able to work with the Carrum Bowling Club to ensure this project received funding, Mr Dreyfus said.
Sun protection is so important and it is very pleasing to see the Carrum Bowling Club take the initiative to install these marquees.
The Carrum Bowling Club is an institution of the Carrum community and I am very pleased to be able to assist them in obtaining this grant.
This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.
Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme will open soon, Mr Dreyfus said.
Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.
I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.
More information on the funding programme, including guidelines, is available at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/.
