GAME, SET, CASH ASPENDALE TENNIS CLUB HITS WINNER WITH GRANT

Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that the Aspendale Tennis Club will receive $20,000 to build additional floodlights.

Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.

Im pleased to have been able to work with the Aspendale Tennis Club to ensure this project received funding, Mr Dreyfus said.

The Aspendale Tennis Club has long wanted to install additional lighting for their courts and this grant funding will allow them to see that project become a reality.

The Aspendale Tennis Club is a fantastic local club in our community and I am very pleased to be able to assist them in obtaining this grant.

I am sure that the project will be a winner for the tennis club and the Aspendale community, Mr Dreyfus said.

This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.

Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.

Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme is open now and closes on 1 April, Mr Dreyfus said.

Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.

I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.
