Last week, the Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and the Federal Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus QC MP, joined the Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon. Simon Crean to open three energy efficiency programs, designed to drive smarter energy use in businesses, households and communities.
Mr Dreyfus said the programs will enable all Australians to harness the opportunities of a low carbon future. They will be delivered in partnership with business, councils and community groups.
"I encourage local councils, business and communities and non-profit organisations in Kingston to look at ways they can be smarter about energy use and save money," Mr Dreyfus said.
"Local councils like the City of Kingston are already working to address their carbon footprint in our community and these programs will support our community in moving to a clean energy future."
"These programs will drive smarter energy use in businesses, households and community organisations. They will help to develop Australia's service and manufacturing industries, creating jobs and supporting local communities."
"We are taking action now to ensure a Clean Energy Future, so we can hand the next generation an Australia that is ready to face the challenges of the future."
Applications under each of these programs can be made now.
