DREYFUS CONDEMNS LIBERALS FOR LIKELY CLOSURE OF ASPENDALE CSIRO CENTRE
The Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus, today condemned the Turnbull Government for doing nothing to save one of the most important science centres in the southern hemisphere the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Centre in Aspendale.
The Turnbull Governments cuts to the CSIRO look set to force this centre to close, Mr Dreyfus said.
It would be a disaster if this were to happen, yet all Mr Turnbull sees is a real estate opportunity.
I am disgusted by the Turnbull Governments utter neglect of the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Centre in Aspendale.
The closure of this site, no doubt to lead to its sale for development, would be a disaster for Aspendale and for Australian science.
Labor is 100 per cent opposed to these cuts to the CSIRO and Mr Turnbulls planned closure of the Aspendale Centre.
The CSIRO Centre in Aspendale should be a centre of research. I will oppose these cuts at every step.
