COMMUNITY CENTRE REACHES NEW HEIGHTS WITH GRANT

Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that the Chelsea Heights Community Centre will receive $5,000 to repaint the interior of the building.

Mr Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.

I congratulate the Chelsea Heights Community Centre on receiving this grant and I look forward to seeing the freshly painted centre in coming months, Mr Dreyfus said.

I am a big supporter of the Chelsea Heights Community Centre and was very pleased to assist them in obtaining this grant.

I am sure that the painting project will be a great success for the Chelsea Heights Community Centre and the many community groups that use the centre, Mr Dreyfus said.

This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.

Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.

Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme is open now and closes on 1 April, Mr Dreyfus said.

Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.

I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.
