CHELSEA COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES TO BENEFIT FROM UPGRADE

Federal Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has welcomed news that Chelsea Community Support Services will receive $5,500 to add soundproofing and improve security at the Services Chelsea Road office.

Mark Dreyfus recommended the project for funding under the first round of the new Stronger Communities Grants Programme.

Im pleased to have been able to work with Chelsea Community Support Services to ensure this project received funding, Mr Dreyfus said.

The added security measures and soundproofing will help Chelsea Community Support Services to provide a safer service to their clients, as well as helping this great organisation to retain staff and volunteers.

Chelsea Community Support Services does fantastic work in our community and I am very pleased to be able to assist them in obtaining this grant.

This Programme provides grants between $5,000 and $20,000 and is available for projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.

Mark Dreyfus worked with a Community Advisory Committee to identify which ideas represented the best investment in our community, and then made a final recommendation on which projects should receive funding.

Round two of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme will open in the new year, Mr Dreyfus said.

Im interested in recommending the best ideas in our community so Im keen to hear from as many local community groups as possible about how they might spend this money.

I would encourage locals and community groups to begin thinking about any projects that they think would benefit our community and consider applying for funding.

More information on the funding programme, including guidelines, is available at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/.
