Federal Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus today congratulated Chelsea resident Tom Wilcock, 12, who received a $500 grant in the latest round of the Local Sporting Champions grants program.
Congratulations to Tom on this well-deserved grant, which he used to travel to Sydney to compete in the School Sport Australia National Track and Field Championships, Mr Dreyfus said.
Tom is one many great young athletes in Melbournes South-East and I wish him every success in his sporting future.
I encourage all local residents to take the opportunity this summer to give a sport or new activity a go, Mr Dreyfus said.
The Local Sporting Champions grants program offers grants of up to $500 to help local athletes aged 12-18 to attend representative sporting championships.
