BUILDING A STRONGER ISAACS COMMUNITY
Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus has recommended $150,000 in grants across 20 community and sporting organisations in the Isaacs electorate in the third round of the Stronger Communities Program.
The program, which offers grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital works, is open to sporting, community and not-for-profit groups with an Australian Business Number, on a matched funding basis.
I congratulate the 20 local organisations that I have recommended for these grants. I received applications for grants toward projects totalling over $700,000 and the quality of application was very high, Mr Dreyfus said.
The projects that will be completed by the 20 successful clubs and organisations will be of great value to our community and I look forward to their completion.
Mr Dreyfus recommended funding for the following projects:
$2,550 for Bonbeach Junior Cricket Club to buy new sporting equipment.
$12,300 for Carrum Coast Guard to build new bathrooms.
$4,899 for Carrum Lifesaving Club to buy new racing boards for nippers.
$10,000 for Carrum Downs Cricket Club to rebuild its change rooms.
$8,700 for Chelsea Little Athletics to buy new hurdles and athletic equipment.
$5,000 for Chelsea Heights Aspendale Gardens Cricket Club to install solar panels on its club rooms at Beazley Reserve.
$4,500 for Chelsea Heights Community Centre to replace damaged signage.
$7,250 for Friends of Edithvale Seaford Wetland to complete work on its bird hide in Edithvale.
$15,000 for Hoan Thien Vietnamese Catholic Community to build a childrens playground at its centre in Keysborough.
$4,571 for Keysborough Bowling Club for new mats for its bowling greens.
$18,000 for Keysborough Turkish Islamic and Cultural Centre to install new lighting at its centre.
$5,000 for Mentone Hockey Club to build a shelter for umpires and officials at its hockey ground.
$4,227 for Mordialloc Bowling Club to install new shading blinds for its barbeque area.
$2,600 for Mordialloc Community Centre to buy a table tennis table and equipment for its seniors program.
$8,803 for Mordialloc Neighbourhood House to lay new carpet and buy tools for the Mordialloc Mens Shed.
$4,315 for Noble Park Bowls Club to install outdoor shading at the club.
$4,741 for Parkdale Cricket Club to purchase a wicket mower.
$7,447 for Patterson Lakes Outrigger Canoe Club to purchase a new trailer.
$15,000 for Sri Lankan Buddhist Association of Victoria to install folding doors at its community centre.
$5,000 for Victorian Drag Boat Club to build seating along the National Water Sports Centres waterway.
